Portfolio 1: Visionary Leadership
from my "About Me" section of my webpage: "My love of technology started in the 80s with Macintosh computers playing "Oregon Trail" and "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?", Atari 2600, and cassette walkmans. I used an iMac G3 in college and had my first Gateway computer when I graduated. Technology in Education has come a long way since the green and black screen I learned on. I hope we can help your child create some of the same memories using technology as I have--just better."
Technology shouldn't be a separate entity for teachers and students. Technology, along with the technology standards, should be embedded into everyday instruction in the classroom. It shouldn't become an "event." My goals as an instructional coach are similar to those that I had in the classroom--How can I improve my students understanding of the content? How can I instill the value of learning and failing? How can I prepare them to become productive college and career ready members of our community? In order to make my vision, and the school's vision a reality, I must work closely with teachers and students to ensure an understanding of the technology we use. I use Microsoft TEAMS to house all of my Professional Development presentations and notes for easy reference for my teachers.
I will be accountable for these goals when teachers can help teachers, when students are stepping up as leaders in our classroom to help with those "tech issues" that seem to happen on a regular basis, when teachers are coming to me with new ideas they want to try in their classrooms, and when I'm not needed to hook up a printer or a computer, but to help create and plan a unit or a lesson and incorporate Bold School ideas.
Vertical alignment is critical in middle and high school. I will have a strategic plan in place to make sure students are growing in their tech knowledge. Students need different, more complex, tasks as they move from one grade to another. By attending PLC meetings, I can work with all teachers to make sure our students are where they need to be.
I hope that teachers and administrators describe my work as beneficial. I don't want to be the "fix-it" person, but the one they can come to when they need teaching ideas or strategies. I want to be able to help teachers grow in their teaching and learn new things along with their students. I hope teachers describe working with me as something they enjoy, and not just another thing they have to do. I want my work to be seen as an extension of what they are already doing in their classrooms. I want them to get the glory and praise when something goes right when they try it for the first or fortieth time. I want my work described as needed and important. I want teachers to need to "bounce ideas" off of me for things they want to try in their classroom. I want them to see me as an equal in the classroom and not someone who comes in on occasion.

Portfolio Element 2: Integration
- Academic Outcome: Determine what a text says explicitly and make logical inferences from it; cite evidence
- Instructional Strategy: Socratic Seminar
- Digital Tool: Poll Everywhere as a back-channel for the outer circle of the Socratic seminar; Inner circle can use Forms or Class Notebook to record their notes from reading.
- Self-Assessment/Objectives Met: Teacher will review back-channel discussion as well as assignment in Forms/Class Notebook for mastery of task.
Portfolio Element 3: Digital Citizenship
How would you deliver and model digital citizenship information to various audiences, such as students, teachers, administrators and parents?
This is an area I struggle in, in the high school. Middle school was easy, but high school is hard to get time in classes when testing is so important.
I've learned a great deal from my co-horts, though. In the new year, I will send out quarterly (or possibly monthly) emails to students with tasks to complete to earn a prize. I will model after Tibbs and Cing with thier newsletter type lessons they provide students. Emails will include some type of interactive for students...a nearpod, quizlet, etc. with various topics of digital citizenship from Common Sense Media.
